The verdict
ShareX is a free, extremely customizable screenshot and screen-recording tool that beats the Windows Snipping Tool. Skip the Steam build if you want clean audio recording, HDR capture, or no fake "playing" status.
Great for
Users who want a free, highly configurable screenshot, GIF and upload tool instead of Snipping Tool
Main risk
Steam version shows you as "playing" and is hard to close, while audio recording and setup are frustrating
