The verdict

A short, action-heavy Alan Wake spin-off with much better combat and a great villain, but a repetitive time-loop structure and thin story. Skip it if you want horror.

Great for

Alan Wake fans who want snappier combat, Mr. Scratch lore and an arcade mode, bought cheap on sale

Main risk

Replaying the same three locations three times with a thin story and little horror feels like padded DLC
